Pseudopapillary Tumor of the Pancreas – Pancreatectomy

A 17 year-old female reported worsening “fullness” in the upper abdomen. Ultrasonography revealed a large mass in the left side of her abdomen. She also reported menstrual irregularity and had virilism in clinical examination. CT-scan demonstrated a very large tumor in the body of the pancreas, which occluded the splenic vein and caused enlargement of the spleen. Endoscopic Ultrasonography (EUS) and biopsy confirmed Pseudopapillary Tumor. A distal pancreatectomy was performed and she did very well. Interestingly, her menstrual period also became normal and virilism disappeared.
